Bride and groom's reflections in mirrors at Gaynes Park

The Wedding Communitys April Wedding of the Month is Hollie and Shanes rustic wedding at Gaynes Park. As they didnt have a specific colour scheme they used seasonal flowers to bring colour to their day, and they added lots of handmade details to complement the venues style (Shane even used his skills as a joiner to make chairs and a table for outside the reception barn, engraving their initials in the table as a surprise for Hollie). Enjoy these amazing pictures by Voyteck Photography, and be sure to read Hollie and Shanes real wedding story on our main site.

We did not have a theme or colour scheme for the wedding, we wanted to use the venue we had chosen as much as possible and complement the style. We went for rustic look and wanted the season to be a big feature with lots of hessian, twine and lace/doilies. With no fixed colour scheme the flowers were the key to bringing colour to our day, and using flowers which were in season and available helped us achieve this.

The 60 metres of lace bunting in the barn was made by my mother, and the confetti was dried by my grandmother in the 18months running up to the wedding.

I made other decorations the twine lanterns, welcome to our wedding sign, favours and hessian runners, even down to the lavender bundles used for the chair sashes. All our stationery such as the save the dates, wedding invites, menus and the thank you cards were made by Shane and I.

Gaynes Park does not have outside furniture during the winter months and we wanted furniture for our guests to sit on outside the barn. In the last few weeks before the wedding we discussed using Shanes skills as a joiner to make chairs from old pallets which would look rustic and be cheap to make. Shane then also made a table and engraved our initials in it without me knowing, which was a beautiful touch.

We really did want to make as much ourselves as possible and spend time on the little details which our guests could appreciate.
